Full Time Nanny/House Manager

Northwest Indiana Nannies is assisting this family with their nanny search. Family in LaPorte seeking to hire an engaging and proactive Full-Time Nanny/House Manager for their two children.

$22-25/hour, FT 32 hours/week.

With the 2 boys (ages 2 & 4 years) and 3 dogs, this family is always keeping busy and on the move. Of important note: the 4 year old has a sensory processing disorder, delayed speech, and is prone to aggressive acts when he is feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable. For this reason a college education in child development or early childhood education is preferred, or several years of relevant work experience with children of similar needs. An engaged and imaginative play style is important for this family. This is a long-term position, with a 1 year Work Agreement, and expected renewals for many years.

The main responsibilities of this position will be the care of the children and related household duties, as outlined below. High initiative and an organized approach are important to this family and are therefore required personal values to be considered for this position.

Position to start in April or May 2025. 2 Weeks PTO and Guaranteed Hours are offered.

ABOUT THE JOB

Schedule: Full-time, 32 hours/week:

• Tuesday- 8:00am-6:30pm
• Thursday- 8:00am-6:30pm
• Friday- 2:00pm-8:00pm
• Weekend Flex Shift- Either Saturday 8am-1pm or Sunday 9am-2pm. Some weekends can be scheduled off as nanny prefers, these shifts will be booked out 3 months at a time.

Hourly Rate: $22-25/hour. W-2 Employment position with legal payroll and tax withholdings

Start Date: April/May 2025

Children:

• 4 y/o boy with Sensory Processing Disorder
• 2 y/o boy

Experience Requirements:

• 2 years of professional childcare experience required
• Cooking & meal preparation experience preferred
• Experience with picky eaters and sensory processing disorders preferred

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• College Education (Associate’s Degree or higher) in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred

Family Personality:

• We have a little bit of chaos here on a regular basis because of conflicting routines (both Mom and 4 y/o need their own routines and self-care times to function best). We want to keep things as holistic as possible, and as “crunchy” parents we keep processed and artificial foods out of the house. As a spiritual family, though not religious, we are mindful to teach our children to care for their inner selves too. The boys are just starting to learn to play together (they have always been independent players before). We love being at home together, especially doing things together in the yard.

Ideal Family/Nanny Relationship:

• We expect the nanny to be professionally dedicated to the needs of our children, and will trust the nanny to take initiative and autonomy over their role with our family. We will maintain open communication and a teamwork dynamic to make sure that we are all working cohesively towards the children’s overall well being. We are seeking support with creating a structure and beneficial routines with the boys.

Ideal Nanny Qualities:

• Structured and organized, fun & silly caregiving style, high level of emotional intelligence, college educated in child development or early childhood education, experience working with picky eaters, experience working with sensory processing disorders, ability to create boundaries and set expectations for the children and disciplined to follow through with consequences when needed, creative and activity focused, high initiative problem solver.

Pets: This family has a snake that is in an enclosed habitat, as well as 3 female dogs:

• 6 y/o Coton de Tulear
• 1 y/o Bernese Mountain dog
• 1 y/o Golden Retriever (service trained)

House Management Responsibilities:

• Occasional grocery shopping
• Occasional errands
• Organizing birthday parties and social events for the children
• Being present for home deliveries/service providers/contractors
• Making beds
• Family Laundry
• Manage robot vacuum
• Tidying up of kitchen, dishes, wipe down surfaces
• Tidying up and organizing toys in kids' rooms and the living room

Level of Activity: Regular outdoor activities are expected. Visits to play places, parks, and active classes (such as gymnastics and martial arts) are regular occurrences. The home has three levels with stairs, ground level, second floor, and un-finished basement.
