Full Time Nanny

Northwest Indiana Nannies is assisting this family with their nanny search.

$22-25/hour, FT 34 hours/week.

This is a big family with 5 children between the ages of 5 and 13 years old. The busy dynamics of 5 children makes this position very team-oriented. Mom & Dad are focused on ensuring each child is able to do the things they enjoy, and to do this they are in need of an extra set of hands. Mom stays at home to raise the children, and Dad’s work flexibility allows him to be involved also. Much of their time is spent driving their kids to/from school, to their various activities, and to appointments. Because Mom & Dad are both involved this way, the nanny’s primary responsibility will be for the care of their son with Down Syndrome. The other children will be in and out during the nanny’s shifts, but will not require the same consistent level of dedicated attention from the nanny.

This family currently employs a nanny who works 3 days per week, so they are looking to fill the other 4 days with this new full-time position. This is a very long-term position, with a 1 year Work Agreement, and expected renewals for many years.

The main responsibilities of this position will be the care of the children and related duties, as outlined below. A vocal and engaged caregiving & communication style are important to this family and are therefore required personal values to be considered for this position.

ABOUT THE JOB

• Schedule: Full-Time, 36 hours/week. Tu/Th 11am-8pm & Sa/Su 11am-7pm
• Hourly Rate: $22-25/hour. W-2 Employment position with legal payroll and tax withholdings

• Experience Requirements:
• Experience caring for and helping language delayed and/or non-verbal children reach their developmental milestones.
• 2 years of professional childcare experience is required

• Up-beat, energetic, happy, conservative, we like to be sarcastic and joke with each other, playful. We enjoy going bowling, swimming, sports activities, and family vacations. We teach our children to take care of each other and to stand up for each other.
• Ideal Family/Nanny Relationship:
• A really flexible and team-work oriented dynamic works best for this family. Regular open verbal communication throughout the day is expected as both parents will be in and out depending on the activities of the day. They expect to hold a professional and friendly relationship with their nanny.
• Ideal Nanny Qualities:
• Engaged and playful education-focused caregiving, vocal open communicator, flexible, open to constructive feedback, proactive, patient, responsible, kind & loving, and not afraid of hugs & kisses from children! A nanny willing to travel with us would be a bonus.

• House Management Responsibilities: none
• Level of Activity: The 7 y/o, who currently weighs about 48 pounds, needs to be lifted on occasion (and likes to be held sometimes too). Swimming in the backyard pool, as well as regular outdoor activities are expected. Also visits to the YMCA or special needs gym, and involvement with the 7 y/o in the activities there are expected. The home has three levels with stairs, ground level, second floor, and finished basement.

Qualification Requirements
- Experience caring for and helping language delayed and/or non-verbal children reach their developmental milestones.
- 2 Years previous nannying or relevant professional childcare experience
- Knowledge of infant care best practices
- CPR & First aid certification required
- Experience in meal preparation and cooking for children
- Familiarity with preschool activities and teaching methods

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
