Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement tailored remediation plans for each student, focusing on their learning strengths and overcoming weaknesses.
- Develop and write comprehensive individual educational plans for all students under your care, adhering to major components designated in IDEA.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide alternative teaching strategies and support materials for identified students.
- Offer informal or consultant roles as initial indirect services to general education classroom teachers.
- Administer educational evaluations to determine students' academic strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.
- Assist general classroom teachers in evaluations and observations to consider all relevant student behavior.
- Implement diagnostic-prescriptive teaching to gather specific student information for designing appropriate programs.
- Provide necessary materials, methods, and support to general classroom teachers for successful student learning throughout the day.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child's objectives and progress, as required by law.
- Maintain accurate records related to instruction and monitoring for all students under your care.
- Review student progress consistently and modify programs as needed.
- Initiate review staffings when necessary, including at least once a year and during any major program change.
- Manual dexterity for dialing phones, entering data into computers, and seeing/reading computer screens and printed materials with or without vision aids.
- Ability to move between schools, school buildings, and multiple rooms.
- Capacity to interact with students that meet their physical, emotional, and psychological needs.
