Northwest Landworks is seeking an experienced Excavation Foreman / Project Lead to oversee and effectively manage residential/commercial projects from start to finish. This role is responsible for leading crews, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating with project managers, and delivering high-quality excavation work on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of excavation techniques, and experience operating heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Supervise and coordinate excavation operations, ensuring work is completed efficiently and according to project plans.
  • Crew Leadership: Direct and oversee excavation teams, assign tasks, and ensure proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate and oversee the use of heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders) and ensure proper maintenance.
  • Site Preparation & Grading: Ensure accurate site preparation, trenching, grading, and utility installation while maintaining specifications.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Material & Resource Management: Coordinate the delivery of materials, schedule subcontractors, and track project costs to maintain efficiency.
  • Communication & Reporting: Maintain clear communication with project managers, clients, and crew members, providing progress updates and resolving issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot issues that arise on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.

Qualifications & Skills:

-Experience: Minimum 5 years of excavation, site preparation, or civil construction experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.

-Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
  • Heavy equipment operator certification (preferred).

-Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, site plans, and utility maps.
  • Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, and grading techniques.
  • Knowledge of GPS (preferred) and laser grading equipment.

-Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Requires physical stamina, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and operating machinery for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and around heavy equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 per week
