Position Overview
The Student Account Specialist is responsible for managing student financial accounts, ensuring accurate billing, processing of payments, loan certifications, and issuing refunds, while providing excellent customer service to NLC students and their families. This role works closely with various departments across the organization to resolve billing discrepancies, answer inquiries, and assist students in understanding their financial obligations.
*FULL ON-SITE POSITION BASED OUT OF OUR MERIDIAN, IDAHO CAMPUS
*UP TO 10% TRAVEL REQUIRED WITH THIS ROLE
In this position you will have the opportunity to:
- Generate and distribute student tuition bills, fees, and other charges. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
- Receive and process payments from students and external sources. Update accounts accordingly and maintain accurate records for all transactions.
- Process refunds and complete loan certifications.
- Reconcile student accounts, identify billing errors and discrepancies, and resolve issues and update accounts accordingly.
- Provide prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable assistance to students and their families regarding billing inquiries, payment options, and account-related matters.
Required Education & Experience
- High School diploma or GED
- 2 years relevant experience in accounts receivable, accounting, and customer service.
Technical Requirements/ Core Competencies
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports, including accounts receivable and monthly aging reports.
- Ability to comply with regulatory standards and operating procedures.
- Familiarity with accounts receivable, ledger cards, and related processes.
- Tech Savvy – ability to quickly learn and navigate various systems including ERP, SIS, and CRM.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Salary
$22.26 - $24.88 per hour, DOE
