Summary: Working according to laws and regulations of Washington State to perform all the functions relative to that of a Pharmacy Technician. This includes but shall not be limited to the processing of patient prescriptions, preparation of medication and maintenance of patient profiles. Additional responsibilities include drug and supply ordering and stocking.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Pharmacy Medication Management

-Generate labels for both new prescriptions and refills.

-Fill out patient prescription logs and prepare and maintain patient profiles.

-Prepare and label sterile parenteral solutions.

-Update patient chart with medication dispensing sheets and/or label copies.

2. Ordering and Stocking of Supplies

-Order and restock pharmacy supplies.

-Order pharmaceuticals according to need, and document in appropriate records.

-Update records as necessary, to allow accurate information to be placed on purchase orders.

-File invoices and document changes in pharmacy or supply costs to Admix department director.

-Unpack and restock pharmaceuticals and supplies upon receipt and maintain pertinent documentation records.

-Sign out investigational drugs when used.

-Remove and dispose of emptied boxes from the Admix.

3. Other Responsibilities

-Backup patient files daily.

-Clean hood prior to preparing sterile pharmaceuticals according to established policy and procedure.

-Once a week, and as needed, clean the hood exterior and drawers with soap and water.

-Once a month, clean the hood prefilter.

-Drive in personal car to pick up and deliver supplies as needed.

Accountability:

-Completion of all requirements on schedule.

-Prompt reporting of problems/procedures that require attention.

-Organizational skills and ability to work with other professional personnel.

Specifications:

1. Skills required:

-Skill in good oral and written communication

-Skill in time management

-Skill in interpersonal communication

-Skill in interpreting and clarifying physician's orders.

-Skill in accuracy, speed, neatness, organization, and orderliness.

-Skill and accuracy in calculations of drip rates, doses, etc.

2. Knowledge required:

-Knowledge of current pharmacy laws pertaining to this practice.

-Knowledge of computers and relevant computer software.

-Knowledge of current drug therapies.

-Knowledge/experience in parenteral product mixing, labeling, storage stability and transportation.

-Knowledge of inventory control.

3. Other Responsibilities:

-Participation in pharmacy organizations and hospital related organizations.

-Ability to utilize initiative and independent judgement.

-This position will work Tuesday thru Friday.

To ensure the safety of NWMS’ vulnerable patient populations, we require post-offer proof and/or completion of various vaccinations such as the flu shot and COVID-19. Any requests to be exempted from these requirements will be reviewed by Human Resources and determined on a case-by-case basis.
