Northwest Mississippi Community College seeks a 10-month Faculty Phlebotomist. The Phlebotomy instructor position involves preparing and teaching courses to achieve student success outcomes and meet course objectives. Course assignments may occur in a classroom setting, learning lab, or contracted facility. Specific instruction to include teaching the Phlebotomy curriculum as assigned which may include lecture and laboratory skills training. Responsibilities include the review of lesson plans and preparation for class instruction, grade, and record assignments, actively promoting student retention, and performing related work as required. Faculty Phlebotomist will report to the Director of Health Care Assistant.
Qualifications: Holds Phlebotomy certification and is able to practice unencumbered in the state of MS. Candidates with a nursing degree are also eligible. The candidate must meet all clinical requirements including background check, urine drug screen etc., in order to take students to clinical.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of course content and learning objectives of the assigned course(s).
- Ability to develop and effectively deliver course content/objectives and facilitate an effective learning environment for students to maximize their success.
- Multidisciplinary focus and ability to align teaching with the broader goals and objectives of the college.
- Knowledge of computer and educational technology and ability to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.
- Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a close, collaborative manner with other faculty and administration.
- Must be able to perform at a high level of skill and accuracy in the field of phlebotomy.

Responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:
- Teaches assigned classroom courses.
- Develops and updates syllabi for courses assigned and ensures course content and requirements meet the requirements of college and accreditation agencies.
- Attends and facilitates the student orientations for incoming students.
- Develops appropriate assessment tools to determine course effectiveness and assures that student outcomes are achieved.
- Assesses student academic achievement and provides students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
- Maintains and reports appropriate classroom records, including student attendance and grades.
- Holds appropriate office hours for meeting with and assisting students.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide; serves on college committees as encouraged/assigned.
- Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives.
- Maintains contact with the students of the program upon completion of the course to gather and maintain job placement information.
- Adheres to the policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college. Ensures all communications and practices demonstrate support of the Ethics for Teaching Professionals.
- Conducts onsite visits to students at clinical sites.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Health Care Assistant.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to take initiative to solve problems.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and Internet use.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
- Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team.
- Must be a “quick study” to quickly grasp and retain knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals.
- Flexible schedule is required to meet department needs, as some evenings, weekends, and extended hours may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the Instructor is regularly required to do the following:

- Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel
- Occasionally lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 pounds
