What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at Northwest Mosquito Abatement District?
Northwest Mosquito Abatement District is seeking responsible, reliable, and driven college students who enjoy being outside for seasonal employment. We are currently looking for individuals to fill our Elk Grove shop.
Starting pay for new seasonal employees is $16.00 an hour.
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday during the summer months: between May 1st and September 30th. Applicants must be able to work at least 7 consecutive weeks. There is an opportunity for overtime and three possibilities for end-of-the-season bonuses for seasonal employees.
Field technicians perform active surveillance for mosquito larvae within the District and treat water sites and storm drains as required. Technicians must have the ability to read maps and to drive throughout the District in company vehicles. No experience is necessary. Training is provided on the job.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Have good communication skills
- Possess a valid driver's license along with a good driving record
- The ability to pass a Department of Agriculture exam pertaining to pesticides - study materials are provided
- Able to lift, bend, twist, walk while carrying weight exceeding 50lbs
- Able to walk long distances over uneven terrain for periods exceeding 2 hours
