What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician position at Northwest Mosquito Abatement District?
Northwest Mosquito Abatement District is seeking responsible, reliable, and driven college students who enjoy being outside for seasonal employment. We are currently looking for individuals to fill our Rolling Meadows Lab.
Starting pay for new seasonal employees is $16.00 an hour.
Work hours are 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM Monday through Friday during the summer months : between May 1st and September 30th.
Lab Technicians perform collection and identification of mosquitoes in our district. Using 3 different methods of collection (BG Sentinel, Gravid, and NJ Light). Lab Technicians also test mosquitoes for mosquito-borne diseases, like West Nile Virus.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Have good communication skills
- Possess a valid driver's license along with a clean driving record
- The ability to pass a Department of Agriculture exam pertaining to pesticides - study materials are provided.
- Able to walk long distances over uneven terrain for periods exceeding 2 hours
