Description
The Office of Campus Safety is seeking applicants for a part-time, hourly position, as a Campus Safety Officer. This position will protect the property and rights of all members of the University. The Campus Safety Officer will provide a safe and secure environment to study, work, and live.
The Campus Safety Officer for Northwest Nazarene University is part of the Department for Student Life and reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Safety.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Enforce campus rules and regulations
- Assist in campus and community safety, crime prevention, and loss prevention education
- Patrol Campus buildings and parking lots on foot or vehicle
- Investigate on-campus complaints and/or suspicious circumstances
- Maintain security access to various campus buildings
- Monitor staff, faculty, and student key card access
- Parking enforcement and issuance of parking citations
- Participate in Emergency Response and Emergency Management processes for campus preparedness
- Respond to calls for service and dispatched alarm calls
- Write incident and safety reports
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year professional work experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to resolve conflict and deescalate situations
- Must possess computer skills in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new computer software
- Variable shifts (including weekends, holidays) and on-call scheduling will be expected in this position
- CPR and Basic First Aid certified or the ability to obtain within a year (12) months of employment
- Ability to work while standing and/ or walking for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs without assistance
- Must maintain a valid Idaho driver’s license
- Must maintain a level of fitness necessary to effectively respond to life threatening situations on the job
- All candidates must have a Christian perspective (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), be in agreement with the doctrine of the Nazarene church, agree to live within the mission and lifestyle values of NNU, and be willing to help advance the spiritual goals of the University
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree (AA) in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or related field
- Experience working with the general public or in a college or university setting

Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
