Description of Position
Northwest Nazarene University’s Department of Communication, Language, and Literature is seeking applicants for an Administrative Assistant. The Assistant will work directly with and for the faculty of the Department of Communication, Language, and Literature. This is a part-time (20-25 hours), nine-month, non-exempt position and reports to the Chair of the Department of Communication, Language, and Literature.
This is a 9-month, part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Department Chair.
Essential Functions
- Perform daily administrative tasks such as managing the department calendar, updating files and department documentation, and answering phone and email questions as needed
- Create and track department budget and process university credit card allocations and submissions for professors; prepare purchase orders
- Prepare and maintain faculty load sheets, overload contracts, and adjunct contracts
- Update the Catalog to reflect relevant degree requirements, program descriptions, and course descriptions.
- Schedule meetings, appointments, and other activities and create agendas for department meetings.
- Assist with planning and executing department events such as English Evening, Forensics Showcase, and Night of the Arts.
- Assist with the production of the fall play, including managing budgets, ticketing, marketing, royalties, and scheduling.
- Manage the Forensics team travel plans and budget
- Document management for the department
- Maintain the department web pages
- Maintain the departmental mailing list and assist with student outreach
- Help maintain the office spaces, including submitting and tracking maintenance tickets, managing building printers, and directing people as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 Years of experience in an administrative setting
- Takes initiative and completes projects with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Experience with graphic design software such as Canva
Compensation
Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience. As this is a part-time position, personnel are not eligible for University benefits.
