The College of Theology and Christian Ministries at Northwest Nazarene University has a respected tradition of service to the institution, the denomination, the region, and the communities of southwest Idaho. The College consists of the undergraduate Department of Philosophy and Religion (which services the general education program of the University and offers several academic majors: Biblical Studies, Christian Ministry, Intercultural Ministries, Philosophy, Philosophy/Religion, Youth Ministries, and Worship Arts) and the Northwest Nazarene Divinity School (which offers fully online Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees in Spiritual Formation; Youth, Children, and Family Ministries; Pastoral Ministry; and Missional Leadership; and a Th.D.). The College presently consists of nine full-time faculty members who are actively engaged in both academic research and church ministry.
Description of Positions
The College of Theology and Christian Ministries of Northwest Nazarene University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member (rank open) to begin in the Fall of 2025. This position will include courses in intercultural ministry and practical theology (at both the undergraduate and graduate levels), and that reflect candidates’ expertise and interests, as well as courses in the undergraduate general education curriculum. Such courses will include both face-to-face and online modalities (reflecting the dimensions of the College’s curricula), along with academic advising and other faculty responsibilities within the University and College. Depending on a candidate’s abilities and interests, administrative responsibilities may also be included. Qualifications Applicants are required to have a minimum of a completed masters degree (preferably M.Div.) in an appropriate/related discipline, with the expectation that a doctoral program (Ph.D. or Th.D.) will be completed as soon as possible so that the person can teach in the Th.D. program (if not already completed at time of application). Strong candidates will have significant experience in the teaching discipline as well as understanding teaching ministry as a Christian vocation. Strong candidates will also value teaching and mentoring a variety of students and the place of theological scholarship. Fluency or abilities in Spanish are also required by candidates. Candidates need to be ordained ministers or pursing ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.
