As a medical records specialist, you will be a vital part of our healthcare team. You will utilize your core skills in medical office experience, EHR systems, medical terminology, and medical records to ensure accurate and organized patient information management. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office will support administrative tasks, while your strong organizational skills will be essential in maintaining efficient record-keeping processes. Responsibilities:
- Process all release of information (ROI) requests, specifically medical records, in a timely and efficient manner from multiple sources, including hospital platforms
- Prioritize all requests directly related to patient care and ensure record copies are securely sent based on the needs of the patient
- Safeguard and protect the patient’s right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient’s medical information and that all release of information is compliant with the request, authorization, company policy, and state and federal laws, including HIPPA regulations
- Maintain incoming and outgoing faxes
- Scan and attach patient results and various documents to patient records into EMR, EClinicalworks
- Assist with notifying hospitals about delinquent charts
- Interact by phone daily with patients, their families, attorneys, government officials, physicians, and others
- Provide excellent customer service by being attentive and respectful; ensure understanding of customer requests and follow- through as promised
Qualification:
- Ability to know, understand, and apply Release of Information Standard, policy and procedures, and state and federal HIPPA regulations
- Patient-focused, friendly, and willing to collaborate in a team environment with a conscientious awareness of detail and accuracy
- Exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills: ability to multitask effectively
- Ability to maintain adequate and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
