Job Description

Job Title : Psychiatrist

Job Specialty : Staff Augmentation

Job Duration : 26 weeks

Shift : Day 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM

Guaranteed Hours :

Experience : Minimum years of experience not specified

License : Certificate to practice medicine per Section 4731.13 of Revised Code

Certifications : Satisfactory completion of a residency training program in psychiatry, as approved by relevant associations

Must-Have : Recognition as a psychiatrist on the basis of formal training and 5 or more years of medical practice limited to psychiatry

Job Description :

Evaluate, examine, analyze, diagnose, and treat consumers; prescribe medication, and perform in-depth psychotherapy and counseling.
Monitor and coordinate professional and paraprofessional medical, nursing, and direct care staff in areas related to psychiatric care.
Review consumer records for accuracy and completeness; recommend improvements in hospital staffing and organization.
Conduct and participate in lectures and seminars in psychiatry or related fields for professional and paraprofessional healthcare staff.

Major Worker Characteristics :

Knowledge of medicine, psychology, sociology, anatomy, and physiology.

Skill in administering medication.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Interpret an extensive variety of technical material in books, journals, and manuals.

Deal with many variables and determine a specific course of action.

Handle sensitive contacts with persons under medical care.

Training and Development Required :

Biannual renewal of license with a requirement of 100 hours of continuing education.

Unusual Working Conditions :

Exposure to dangerous patients and infectious diseases.

May require travel to community sites under contract with the Department of Mental Health.
