JOB SUMMARY

At Avero Diagnostics, we rely on our IT systems to help our laboratory support a constant throughput of data and provide clients access to information that supports and directly affects patient outcomes. In the IT Manager role, the successful individual will oversee the company’s initiatives, monitor program performance, coordinate projects, and manage the IT team to successfully achieve shared goals. This role will include management and development of direct reports in the IT department, development, monitoring, and reporting of IT KPIs, and ensuring the success of and focus on the company’s approved program portfolio.

 Avero Diagnostics operates on a 24/7/365 basis; an individual is required to be responsive and work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedule flexibility with and without advance notice is required. 

 ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Provides leadership and management oversight to the Information Technology Department.
  • Understands the company’s goals and works to provide the program support and direction needed to achieve them.
  • Manages Avero Diagnostic’s program portfolio and updates to project prioritization via the guidance of the senior leadership team.
  • Communicates with other related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
  • Works with program/project stakeholders to define budgets, operations, and metrics related to feature/project requests.
  • Assesses the results of completed projects and creates reports summarizing their effectiveness.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental operational standards, including work processes, client service, task assignments, policies, and procedures.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain team members, overseeing job description updates, resume screening, interview scheduling, and hiring decisions.
  • Administer employment actions, provide coaching, and promote staff training and development, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with other departments to coordinate tasks and resolve issues as necessary.
  • Ensures security and efficiency of IT team members, processes, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Continually seeks improvements through better methods and processes.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teams, fostering an inclusive environment and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Oversee team health and safety, partnering with the EHS Specialist to implement safety programs, report incidents, and maintain a focus on employee well-being.
  • Review, update, and approve team timecards under payroll deadlines on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Always maintain a professional attitude and appearance.

 EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field preferred.

 EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum (4) years of experience working in an IT role.
  • Minimum of (2) years in an IT leadership role at a health care facility required.
  • Certification and degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field desired. 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ITSM principles.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems and procedures.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with clients in a professional, tactful and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrated ethical and legal accountability for the position.
  • Ability to recognize and demonstrate high integrity to maintain confidentiality at all levels.
  • Exhibits strong leadership and team management abilities, setting a positive tone and example for team behavior, work ethic, and performance.
  • Establishes and maintains solid interpersonal relationships with team members across all organizational levels.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively, both in writing and speaking, with the ability to understand and actively listen.

  • Proficient in various software applications, including MS Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and healthcare databases.
  • Regular, predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Focused on team success and goals rather than individual achievement. 

 WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position operates in a fast-paced office and lab environment, requiring adherence to daily workload demands, potential exposure to chemicals, and the use of personal protective equipment and universal precautions.
  • The role involves regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, printers, phones, and mobile devices, in a work environment with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Exerting up to forty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects 
  • Regular activities include talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel, grasping, reaching, and performing repetitive movements with wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Specific vision abilities include close visual acuity and the ability to adjust focus for tasks such as data analysis, reading reports, transcribing, viewing computer monitors, and legally operating a motor vehicle.
