What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Consultant position at Northwest Pediatric Center?
Northwest Pediatric Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Consultant(BHC) to join our Integrated Behavioral Health Team (IBHT) alongside our long-standing, thriving private group practice of 7 pediatricians and 7 pediatric nurse practitioners in beautiful southwestern Washington. We are a member of the Seattle Children’s Care Network and practice up-to-date, evidence-based medicine. Our practice was founded in 1992 with the goal of providing compassionate, whole person care and we believe strongly in being an encouraging, inclusive workplace where our staff can thrive and excel.
Be part of a caring, respectful, and diverse team where you deliver Behavioral Health services alongside the Primary Care Provider - providing access to behavioral health care to patients in their trusted community Primary Care Clinics - to achieve the best whole-person care and treatment outcomes.
Behavioral health issues account for 20% to 40% of all concerns raised in a primary care visit; “Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH)” is a model of behavioral healthcare that focuses on addressing behavioral health concerns impacting a patient’s overall health, within a primary care office.
Northwest Pediatric Center utilizes an Integrated Behavioral Health Team (IBHT) approach, modeled after the PCBH model. Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) use evidence-based, brief interventions to treat mild to moderate concerns that commonly present in primary care offices, such as anxiety, depression, and the management of chronic health conditions such as diabetes. BHC’s work alongside primary care providers, nurses, administrators and other healthcare providers to deliver services in exam rooms through warm hand-offs (unscheduled, impromptu visits) or scheduled visits. The PCBH model uses a population-based approach to improve the general public’s access to appropriate and effective behavioral health services, that might be otherwise lost through the referral process.
