Job Description
Meat Cutters work mainly in the cold and frozen environment, primarily the cutting room, where the work involves occasionally lifting and carrying products weighing up to 110 pounds, repetitive arm and hand movements, eye-hand coordination, substantial hand strength, and standing for long periods of time. You will be working with a team to cut meat to customer specifications. We expect employees to follow our all of our processes to ensure the highest quality, and maintain food safety and regulatory compliance of all products. Employees should anticipate cross training and work in multiple positions to ensure the small team is efficient as possible.
Responsibilities
- Prepare special cuts of meat as ordered by customers while operating tools safely.
- Cut, trim, bone, tie, and break using a variety of tools and techniques.
- Process cuts from various whole carcasses, not limited to Bison, Beef, Lambs, and Hogs.
- Moves meat from coolers to cutting area and returns cut meat to coolers.
- Maintain lot integrity to ensure each carcass is labelled appropriately.
- Helps verify and unload meat deliveries.
- Help prepare and load trucks for outbound shipments.
- Closely follows all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Cleans and maintains personal equipment and industrial machinery.
- Follows all processes and procedures as assigned to ensure quality and safety of products.
- Assists in other duties, including slaughter, packaging or kitchen duties, as needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with meat production, whole carcass butchery and retail meat production preferred.
- Ability to learn and retain information/physical skills
- Ability to visually identify cuts of meat.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions and solve problems.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with others and be an effective team member.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- At least 18 years of Age
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
