Business Title:
- Respiratory Therapist
Job Purpose:
- To provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' respiratory status and needs through physical examination, medical history review, and diagnostic testing.
- Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans based on patient diagnoses, physician orders, and established protocols.
- Administer respiratory treatments and medications, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, bronchodilators, and mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and make necessary adjustments based on clinical findings and arterial blood gas analysis.
- Educate patients and their families about respiratory care, disease management, and proper use of respiratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting all assessments, treatments, and interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of respiratory equipment and supplies.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Stay current with advancements in respiratory care through continuing education and professional development.
Required Education:
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC accredited program.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- Valid BLS/CPR certification.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, preferably in a home care setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in administering respiratory treatments and therapies.
- Experience with patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation.
- Experience with various respiratory equipment, including ventilators, oxygen concentrators, and nebulizers.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of respiratory diseases and treatments.
