What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Process Coordinator (Anticipated) position at Northwest School District R1?
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide strong support to the Special Education Administrator in efficient operation of all special education operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.
1. Works closely with Building Coordinators of Special Education
2. Responsible for providing on-going training to teachers and support staff in special education matters.
3. Serves as the LEA representative in placement and provision of services (when needed).
4. Recommends policies and programs essential to the needs of exceptional children,
5. Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing special education
6. Provides leadership in establishing new programs and developing improved understanding of existing special education programs.
7. Monitors the special education process from pre-referral to placement, to include evaluations, IEP’s and service delivery.
8. Assists with Special Education programming in buildings.
9. Monitors special education MSIP documentation and monitors compliance.
10. Assist in all collection of CORE DATA information which will be provided to the Director of Special Services and the Director of Federal Programs for submission to DESE.
11. Monitors incidence rates, caseloads, staffing and programs.
12. Supervises transition activities at the middle and high school levels.
13. Coordinates special education software implementation.
14. Coordinates all para-educator activities.
15. Evaluates existing programs on an ongoing basis and recommends changes and additions as needed.
16. Coordinates and oversee Therapeutic Program
17. Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
NCAT Staff, Behavior Team and Support Room Assistants
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1. Teaching Certificate in Special Education
2. Graduate degree
3. Five years prior special education classroom experience
4. Knowledge of State Standards; State and Federal regulations and laws as they apply to local school Board of Education policies and regulations; curriculum and instruction.
5. Skills should include good oral and written communications; Public relations; evaluation methodologies; and computer applications.

1. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while complying with established policies and procedures of
the building and district.
