What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Transition Experience Program Coordinator position at Northwest Special Education Cooperative?
REPORTS TO:
Director of Northwest Special Education Cooperative
JOB GOAL: To prepare students with disabilities for transition to employment and community participation during and after high school. S.T.E.P. is a partnership with school districts, employers, and the Illinois Department of Human Services/Office of Rehabilitation Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
–
Valid Illinois Teaching Certificate with Special Education and/or Learning Disabilities endorsement
–
Valid Driver's License
–
Working knowledge of the IEP process
–
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
–
Basic computer knowledge
RESPONSIBILITIES:
–
Coordinates referrals from NWSE member district case managers
–
Assists with the development of the transitional component of the Individual Education Plan (IEP), as a member of the IEP team
–
Assist in locating community training/job sites and matching students' needs, interests, and abilities to the job sites.
–
Develop agreements with employers; orientating potential employers and employees
–
Visit each training/workstation periodically to observe the student and discuss his/her progress with the supervisor
–
Monitor and collect data regarding training/work performance.
–
Evaluate student work performance based on employer/coordinator feedback
–
Complete all required paperwork, including billings, flow charts and evaluations
–
Assists students with college visits and completing FASFA/college applications
–
Guidance with resume building, interview preparations, and job applications
–
Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and 190-day contract to be agreed upon by the Northwest Special Education Cooperative
EVALUATION:
The performance of this job will be evaluated annually under the provisions established by the NWSE Advisory Board.
