Position Summary
Northwest Suburban College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Program Director / Faculty member for our Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program. This unique role combines teaching responsibilities with program administration, providing leadership in curriculum development, faculty oversight, and student success initiatives. The ideal candidate is a credentialed sonographer with a commitment to advancing DMS education and a passion for mentoring students in both classroom and clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Leadership and Administration
- Oversee all aspects of the DMS program, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards, college policies, and industry expectations.
- Manage program administration, including scheduling, program budgets, compliance with accreditation requirements, and maintaining updated program records.
- Lead curriculum development, updating course content, syllabi, and clinical competencies to reflect current sonography practices and technologies.
- Collaborate with the Program Director and the Provost to establish program goals, strategic direction, and growth opportunities.
- Faculty and Clinical Site Management
- Recruit, hire, and supervise adjunct faculty and clinical instructors, ensuring they deliver quality education and support student learning outcomes.
- Conduct regular evaluations of faculty and clinical staff, providing feedback and facilitating professional development opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clinical sites, ensuring placements that offer a high-quality learning experience.
- Oversee student clinical rotations, coordinating with clinical site staff to monitor student performance and progress.
- Teaching and Student Engagement
- Teach selected DMS courses, delivering lectures, lab sessions, and clinical instruction in abdominal, vascular, and OB / GYN sonography.
- Evaluate student performance through practical and written assessments, providing feedback to encourage academic and professional growth.
- Mentor students, offering guidance on academic performance, career goals, and professional development within the field of sonography.
- Compliance and Accreditation
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including preparation for accreditation visits, audits, and documentation.
- Maintain the program’s accreditation status, preparing reports, documentation, and program reviews as required by accrediting bodies.

Work Environment
A combination of classroom, clinical, and administrative settings with the possibility of online or hybrid instruction. Requires regular interaction with students, faculty, and clinical site personnel.
