- Participates cooperatively with the building principal in the administrative and curricular planning process.
- Provides assistance to the building principal relative to the appointment, retention and assignment of staff.
- Assist the principal in the supervision and evaluation of instructional staff and program.
- Provides educational leadership in best instructional practices and development of curriculum at the High School and transition level.
- Responsible for the scheduling and the implementation of annual reviews.
- Responsible for scheduling teacher planning days.
- Responsible for administrative outreach/Medicare data collection.
- Develops and implements appropriate staff development and in-services activities for staff.
- Assists in the planning and implementation of summer school.
- Works with principal on maintaining effective communication with parents and staff.
- Assists in preparing various written communications for students, staff and community members.
- Participates in administrative team meetings and committee meetings.
- Supports the administration and organization of state assessments
- Provides guidance and support in the IEP process and facilitation
- Works with the principal and other appropriate administrators to provide leadership and assistance for the building safety and crisis team.
- Works with office team to orient and place substitutes
- Assists with supervision of evening and weekend school-related events.
- Assumes the responsibilities of the principal when the principal is absent.
- Perform such other duties as maybe directed by the building principal and/or superintendent.
- Assume administrative and developmental responsibilities under the supervision of the NSSEO Superintendent for the planning, operative and evaluation of the programs coordinated.
- Assume other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Support NSSEO policy, NSSEO and governing board goals and objectives, and The School Code of Illinois.

- Exposure to temperature extremes is seldom or not present.
- Exposure to hazardous conditions (e.g. mechanical, cuts, burns, infectious disease, high decibel noise, etc.) is occasionally present.
- Frequency of exposure to injury to self and/or others is occasionally or frequently present.
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative Endorsement.
- Educational leadership ability in overall program planning and implementation.
- Two years of teaching experience in one area of exceptionality served by the school and techniques which include the use of physical restraints, preferred.
- Ability to participate in Nonviolent Crisis Prevention (NVCI) training.
