What are the responsibilities and job description for the Center Custodian/Food Service Provider/Floater position at Northwest Tennessee Head Start/EHS?
Purpose Statement: The Center Custodian/Food Service Provider/Floater is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and healthy learning environment for children by assisting in a variety of job roles to prevent the disruption of services to children.
1. Keep the center and outside area clean and sanitary on a daily basis, including the playground.
2. Transport food in personal vehicle and distribute according to CACFP guidelines from local school system to center.
3. Clean up before and after mealtime.
4. Be knowledgeable of any children with special dietary conditions.
5. Sit and interact with children during mealtime.
6. Include children in assisting with meal preparation and clean up after meal.
7. Work harmoniously and effectively with center staff, parents, and children.
8. Complete and submit paperwork by required deadlines.
9. Preserve the confidentiality and integrity of all program information.
10. Provide for the care, safety and well-being of all children in the group.
11. Assist in implementing a curriculum geared for the appropriate age of children from The Creative Curriculum, DHS Assessment System and School Readiness Goals.
12. Set up the physical environment to meet the age appropriate needs of children.
13. Demonstrate verbally and by role modeling sound knowledge of good teaching practices and child growth and development.
14. Provide children with emotional support, classroom organization and instructional support.
15. Participate in staff meeting discussions and ongoing training regarding program, children and parents.
16. Communicate daily with parents regarding the health and safety of children as well as sharing child development information in the absence of the teacher.
17. Observe and assess the development of children in conjunction with the parents in the absence of the teacher.
18. Assist teacher in training volunteers, substitutes, and parents.
19. Obtain the required Department of Human Services training hours.
20. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
21. Attendance is an essential function of your day-to-day responsibility and commitment to the program.

Pay: $12.33 per hour
