What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Administrator position at Northwest Tennessee Head Start/EHS?
Statement of Purpose: The Facilities Administrator is the primary administrator overseeing all facilities to ensure that children in our care have a safe and healthy environment for learning. This person is also responsible for coordinating the center transportation services for children and families.
1. Ensure all facilities follow TN DHS Licensing rules, Head Start Act, Head Start Performance Standards and state and local fire codes.
2. Ensure playgrounds are safe and play structures are sound by initiating a yearly playground inspection.
3. Develop and maintain a facilities maintenance plan specific to each site.
4. Assist in preparing estimates for all facility improvements by drawing diagrams, sketches, and basic floor plans.
5. Assist in budget and grant preparations by providing necessary estimates on facilities and playgrounds.
6. Execute or supervise construction projects needed for repairs, remodeling and expansion of interior space, exterior space, storage facilities and parking lots.
7. Coordinate procurement process, assure bonding and workers compensation coverage for contractors and supervise contractors and volunteer labor.
8. Ensure compliance with the Davis Bacon Act.
9. Attend to the environmental impact of any chemical or expansion project on Head Start grounds and contiguous properties.
10. Maintain records of facilities and playgrounds.
11. Attend all assigned meetings, all staff meetings, workshops, and trainings to enhance job skills as needed.
12. Develop and implement plans and procedures for the transportation.
13. Approve expenditures for transportation following purchase procedures.
14. Monitor and assess program compliance and supervise staff performance around transportation.
15. Maintain all transportation files.
16. Review submitted monthly mileage for accuracy.
17. Ensure all staff receive new hire orientation in area of facilities, custodial duties, MSDS, playground and disposal of equipment.
18. Oversee maintenance for all program vehicles.
19. Plan and schedule all training for transportation staff and other employees with CDL and PS endorsements.
20. Preserve the confidentiality and integrity of all program information.
21. Attendance is an essential function of your day-to-day responsibility and commitment to the program.
