Position: Tech - Cardiology/EKG (FT Days)

Position Summary: Performs adult, pediatric, and neonatal 12-lead EKG. Manages general office duties relating to patient records, procedure charges, filing, scheduling and charging. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment. Adheres to patient privacy as stated in policy. Provides an environment conductive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees. The EKG Technician will assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions. The EKG Technician will comply with appropriates and approved standards for electrical, environmental, infection control, and complies with safety and injury prevention standards.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

1. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.
2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
3. Previous EKG experience preferred, but will train.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and others.
• Ability to remain calm under stress.
• Ability to respond to pages and phone orders.
• Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
• Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling. Lifting range: 30-50 pounds.
• Exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals.
