Northwest Law is looking for an Attorney to join our team. Want to join a team of hardworking legal and closing services experts? This role will be based out of our Grandview Heights (Ohio) office and will support our Central Ohio teams and clients. The Attorney will hold their law license with Northwest Law and work jointly for both the law firm and our title insurance agencies.
Overall, the Attorney’s primary responsibilities will be preparing and/or approving legal documents, providing real estate title and closing related counsel to our team, and being involved in our local real estate community via networking and educational presentations.
A typical week could include fielding emails and calls from staff or clients regarding real estate transactions, representing clients from the real estate industry, drafting real estate documents, conducting closings, teaching continuing education, and networking with existing and prospective clients.
In addition to the above duties, many of our Attorneys also practice law in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate, and providing counsel for lenders, brokers, and boards of realtors. The Attorney will have the opportunity to grow their legal practice beyond their primary duties, in alignment with our practice areas and firm goals.
Who is our ideal candidate? Someone who:
- Has some experience with real property transactions, and also an interest in networking within the real estate industry to attract clients for both the law firm and title agencies
- Can accurately draft and review legal documents, perform title examinations, and perform title clearing research.
- Enjoys partnering with teams to solve problems and clearly communicates the obstacles and solutions with clients and customers.
- Wants to work in a client-facing role that includes conducting real estate closings and building relationships with existing and new clients.
- Will become authorized to teach continuing education classes to real estate agents and contribute as one of our team’s teachers/ presenters.
- Likes to participate in trade groups, professional associations, and willingness to create business relationships with those that can generate client referrals.
- Will obey best practices in relation to the functions of the law firm and title agency.
Required qualifications:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school required
- Must be currently licensed as an attorney in the State of Ohio
Preferred but not required:
- Licensed Title Agent or ability to obtain Title License within first 3 months of employment
- Experience with real property law or the real estate industry preferred
- Experience with Clio legal software
