Behavior Consultant - Special Education and Early Intervention (Full-Time)
The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit is adding a new full-time Behavior Consultant position. The start date for this position will be July 1st 2025.

The initial salary for this position is firmly set at $56,485
221 Day Work Year
15 PAID holidays
16.5 Vacation Days, 4 Personal Days, 11 Sick Days per fiscal year.
Full medical dental and vision benefits are effective the first day of employment with a monthly premium share of only $75.
Position Summary:
The Behavior Consultant will provide consultation and support to school district and Intermediate Unit staff (teachers, aides, and therapists) for students with autism spectrum disorders or other behavioral concerns. This is a 221-day position.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst certificate obtained through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board; or hold a current license for Behavior Specialist in the State of Pennsylvania
- Prior training and experience working with children or adults with autism spectrum disorders, behavior modification, and /or behavior analysis
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Special Education or mental health, or a related field
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation to school district and Intermediate Unit staff (teachers, aides, therapists) for students with autism spectrum disorders or other behavioral concerns
- Support school district programs for students with autism spectrum disorders or behavioral concerns that span the continuum of special education services from students fully included in regular education to students assigned to full time support programs
- Develop recommendations and suggest strategies to classroom staff, such as positive behavior supports, intervention strategies, and educational management programs, in support of students with autism or behavioral needs
- Utilize a coaching and collaborative platform as the preferred method of program implementation
- Support classroom programs in the development of (and assistance with) functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
- Establish a collaborative/coaching relationship in local educational entities assigned
- Participate in team meetings
- Provide transition assistance and material development (social stories, schedules, etc.)
- Assist with staff development, including facilitation of Handle With Care as a certified HWC trainer
- Perform other duties as assigned
