Early Intervention, Itinerant Teacher (Full-Time)
I. Position Details
Location-This is a Tri-County Itinerant position with projected majority of services in the Erie City area. Anticipated majority of Early Intervention services in Erie County.
Department: Early Intervention and Special Education
Start Date: 2025-2026 school year, starting July 1st with limited days in the Summer until August In-Service
Salary (2025-2026 school year): Bachelor's: $63,830, Master's $65,971 (based on number of post graduation credits)
Work Days: 187 work days per school year over an EI stretch Calendar, 37.5 hour work week.
PTO: 10 paid sick days, 3 Personal Days, 2 Emergency Days per school year (based on start date)
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance upon hire date. $75/month for individuals or families. Life Insurance provided for employee at no cost.

II. Position Overview:
The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking a full-time itinerant, Early Intervention (EI) Teacher with projected majority of services in the Erie City area. Anticipated majority of Early Intervention services in Erie County. EI Teachers provide Special Education services to EI students (ages 3-5) in specialized settings to include pre-schools, day cares, and in the home.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification in Special Education (PK-8 or PK-12 Required)
or: in the process of obtaining certificate through alternate certification process (ex. PDE approved Teacher prep or Intern program)
- Must be available to work the EI Stretch Calendar with 15 days over the Summer.
- Must have a valid driver's license in the state where you reside and reliable transportation.
III. Desired Qualifications:
- Certification in regular education
- Prior experience working with EI students
- Experience utilizing Positive Behavior Supports
- Knowledge of various disability categories (i.e. Developmental Delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language)
IV. Essential Functions:
- Developing lessons and teaching children in EI classrooms
- Conducting evaluations to determine eligibility for EI services
- Writing Evaluation Reports and Individualized Education Plans for EI students
- Providing EI services as determined through the IEP process
- Inputting EI data utilizing the PELICAN system
