Special Education Teacher - Bethesda (Full-Time)
Position Overview: The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to work with students at Bethesda in the acute partial classroom. This classroom is for elementary students.
Start Date: 2025-2026 school year

187 work days per year, 37.5 hour work week.
10 paid sick days, 3 Personal Days, 2 Emergency Days(based on start date)
Full Medical-PPO, Dental, Prescription, and Vision Coverage for Employee and Dependents on hire date. ($75.00/ month premium deductible)
Required minimum 7.5% contribution to Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System (PSERS).
Required Qualifications:
- Certification in Special Education PK-8 or PK-12
or: in the process of obtaining certificate through alternate certification process (ex. PDE approved Teacher prep or Intern program)
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification in regular education
- Experience utilizing Positive Behavior Supports
- Knowledge of various disability categories (i.e. Developmental Delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language)
Essential Functions:
- Developing lessons and teaching children in classrooms
- Conducting evaluations to determine eligibility for services
- Writing Evaluation Reports and Individualized Education Plans for students
- Providing services as determined through the IEP process
