Supervisor of Special Education - Mental Health
Position Summary: This is a supervisory level position responsible for oversight of Special Education Programs by geographic area and/or exceptionality.
This supervisor will serve as a bridge between mental health and education. They will be the lead for the following areas: SAP/Mental Health Liaisons, School Psychologists, PAIU Mental Health workgroup, Crisis Response/Threat Assessment, Erie County Complex Case Lead, Erie County Child Death Review, Behavior Consultant Lead, etc.

- 260 Day Work Year

Required Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education certificate or K-12 Principal Certificate
Five years' experience with special education students
Thorough understanding of all state and federal requirements for special education
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with School Wide Positive Behavior Support
Certified by the Pennsylvania Network of Student Assistance Program (PNSAS-SAP) K-12 as a SAP team member/trainer.
Experience with low incidence population
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate assigned teaching and paraprofessional staff.
Participate in the interviewing of prospective employees and provide recommendations for employment.
Oversee the procedural compliance of all pupil placements (from point of referral to IEP development / implementation) and to transition to adult life.
Oversee class lists for child count accuracy.
Present at workshops and meetings and serve on committees, upon request.
Participate in meetings to develop IU/district goals and budget contracts.
Oversee the requisitioning of materials for new and existing programs.
Evaluate annually the facilities utilized.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Executive Director and Assistant Director of Special Education.
