What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician Assistant position at Northwest Veterinary?
Our position:
We are seeking a professional, dependable, and hard-working person to join our team as a veterinary technician. Your role would be to support and assist the doctor during calls. Having supplies ready for each day, prepping for procedures, assisting in exams and treatments of animals, writing medical records as dictated by the doctor, and writing up billing invoices.
In this position, you would be working side by side with a mobile large animal veterinarian. You would be in a truck traveling and out in the field most of the day. You would be required to show up to work prepared to work outside in all weather conditions. Reading and writing while traveling in the vehicle is required.
Priority is to support the Doctor in order to maximize his time in the field and with patients. Show up to work on time; have the mobile vet pack restocked daily; have needed items laid out and staged; process blood work and fill out laboratory forms; clean and sanitize equipment; cross-trained to assist in office duties as needed.
Hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 – 5:00.
Ideal candidate:
Comfortable with horses and other farm animals and have the ability to hold and restrain animals as needed for procedures.
Excellent customer service, good people skills, and a friendly demeanor.
Ability to prioritize, multitask, communicate, and make good decisions.
Strong organization and documentation skills with legible handwriting.
General computer proficiency. Knowledge of AVImark Veterinary Software is a plus.
Prior experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right individual.
