Full-Time, benefitted role in a busy Specialty Clinic and Ambulatory Surgical Center
Monday-Thursday 8am - 5:30pm, Fridays 8am - 12pm 
 
Job Summary
Provides and manages direct health care to patients.  Ensures the highest quality of clinical practice, judgment, and medical integrity are upheld and implemented.
 
Job Responsibilities
  1. Provides comprehensive health care to patients of all ages. Performs a complete physical exam. Collaborates with physicians in managing medical needs of patients. Prepares, dictates and/or enters information on patient encounters (patient charting) for clinical information system.
  2. Acts as a major continuity component of delivery of health care as part of designated team.
  3. Makes independent nursing judgments, collaborating with physicians in managing weight and wellness, pre and post bariatric surgical care. 
  4. Counsels and educates patients and their families on issues of health maintenance, behavior, normal social and physical growth and development. Provides patient counseling and instruction referring patients to other services when appropriate e.g. Cardiac, Sleep Apnea.
  5. Serves as the primary care provider for patients seeking medical weight loss and bariatric surgical care.
  6. Provides telephone consultation, follow up phone calls and triage patient telephone calls.
  7. Plans and participates in educational programs for patients and families as needed.
  8. Provides workshops, seminars and presentations to patients and other professionals.
  9. Participates in research when and where appropriate.
  10. Provides culturally sensitive and culturally competent health care to a diverse clinic population.
  11. Recommends health promotion, disease prevention and health maintenance strategies to clinic patients.
  12. Participates in the development of patient care guidelines and other clinic administrative policies along with other clinic primary care providers.
  13. Trains and supervises other clinic staff as needed.
  14. Complies with Sound Surgeons, PLLC risk management and compliance program, including accurate and timely reporting of all adverse incidents as described in the policy
  15. Complies with applicable information security policies and procedures.
  16. Strives to consistently provide the highest quality of customer service to patients, families, guests, and co-workers by following Sound Surgeons PLLC Service Standards.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor.

Cross-training – All staff are expected to participate in cross-training within the organization when directed to assist in the operations of the business when short staffed or covering for vacations and sick leave. Clinical staff cross-training duties will not be outside the employees’ scope of practice.
  7. Empathetic – Ability to appreciate and be sensitive to the feelings of patients and co-workers. Exhibits a cheerful demeanor with the ability to display good-natured tolerance of delay or adversity. A calm manner and patience working with a variety of personalities.

  11. Knowledge – of current federal and state laws and regulations, as well as current AORN, AAAHC, DOH, CMS and other oversight credentialing and certifying bodies, as these laws, regulations, policies, and recommendations apply to the delivery of care in a clinic or ASC setting.
  12. Organized – Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.
  13. Professional Development – Strives to expand own knowledge and skills; Monitors trends in health care industry and adapts to changes and new developments.
  14. Reliability – Can be relied upon to demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality. Ability to work in a demanding self-supervisory, multi-task environment within clear timelines.
  15. Team Player – The ability to work with others and independently for a common goal. Puts aside own individual needs to work toward the larger group objective and reinforces the contribution of others on the team.
  16. Technology – competent use of computer systems, EMR, other office equipment and software including Microsoft’s Office products.
  17. Terminology – knowledge of medical terminology preferred and, in some positions, required.

  1. Exempt, Salaried
  2. M-F, schedule varies.
Education/Experience Requirements
  1. Graduate of a formal accredited school of nursing
  2. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program
  3. Degree in life or health sciences preferred; Bachelor’s degree required. preferable master’s level of education
  4. A minimum of 4 years of relevant clinical or medical experience
  5. Relevant obesity therapeutic area experience preferred
  6. Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Washington State
  7. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
  8. ANA certification.
  9. Bi-lingual preferred
Physical Demands/Working Environment
  1. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach with hands and arms above shoulders occasionally, stoop, kneel or crouch seldomly.
  2. Lift/Carry/Push/Pull up to 25 lbs. frequently.
  3. Must possess functional vision, hearing, and speech to communicate effectively with clients, client advocates, and staff.
  4. Perform fine motor functions.
