Position Summary :
Boise National Forest (BNF) Engineering is recruiting one , 480 Hour AmeriCorps members beginning June / July 2025. The participant will aid in survey, design, and construction administration of Southern-Idaho Landscape (SIL) projects including Long Pine, French Campbell, Lost Horse, Horseshoe Salvage and others.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Specific activities include :
- 25%] Performs tasks related to road design, such as computes levels; plots road profiles, cross sections, and traverses; traces completed plans and profiles; prepares data for computerized input; and works from printouts or reports.
- 25%] Assists with work related to constructing roads, trails, or other facilities, such as collecting and analyzing materials, taking measurements; and reporting on contractor's progress to a higher-level engineer.
- 25%] Assists with road inventories, mapping, signing, traffic counts, or other work related to the maintenance of roads, trails or facilities.
- 25%] Develops sketches, drawings, and / or work requests for support operations, such as simple modifications to equipment that are easily visualized, fit a similar pattern, and / or are specified by a senior technician or engineer.

Duties are performed within the Cascade and Emmett Ranger Districts, Boise National Forest.
Terms of Employment :
One AmeriCorps member will complete a term of service (480 hours), starting June / July 2025 through August / September 2025. The member must complete a minimum of 480 service hours by the end of their term. The member will receive a 30-minute lunch each day and this lunch break does not count towards AmeriCorps member service hours. Training will not exceed 20% of total member service hours.
Program Benefits :
7,680 living allowance dispersed on a monthly basis and upon successful completion of program requirements, education award amount of $1,956.35. The position will also include a $194.12 gear reimbursement fund. Housing may be provided.
The living allowance and education award are taxable. Members are responsible for providing their own food. Service eligibility is contingent upon the results of a criminal and driving background check.
