Costume Studio Manager

The Northwestern College theatre department seeks a costume studio manager beginning Aug. 15. This 20-hour-per-week, 9-month-per-year staff colleague will join our nationally recognized theatre program in the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center and come alongside our 4 faculty, 3 staff, 20 majors, and over 100 students involved in play production.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with our student costume designers in the purchase, alteration or fabrication of all the garments for each of our 4 mainstage productions as well as our various smaller projects and performances. Duties will include overseeing the smooth operation of our costume studio and equipment, supervising student employees, and training our wonderful theatre students. Experience with cutting, draping, patterning and sewing is required. Knowledge of the theatrical production process would be helpful. A passion for fostering a generous and positive environment to train the next generation in the art and craft of costume construction is paramount.

Other tasks include costume design for one of our mainstage productions per year, mentoring our student designers through their design process, organization of costume fittings and alterations, and management of any community costume rentals.
