Environmental Services Tech
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for cleaning of patient rooms, clinical and public areas of the medical center; cleans and disinfects all environmental surfaces within the hospital, supports the linen service, collects and transports waste within the hospital using proper handling and disposal techniques.
PRE-REQUISITES:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior Experience: Institutional cleaning experience preferred.
Skills: Ability to read, write and understand English required.

o All hospital employees, patient and their families, and the general public
SCOPE:
- Machinery or Equipment Used:
o Industrial cleaning equipment: vacuum cleaner, mop, broom/dustpan, linen cart, trash barrel on barrel roller, trash compactor, washing machine
- Physical Demands:
o Energy requirements for frequent mopping, pushing/pulling, lifting, etc. Occasional: kneeling, squatting, overhead reaching and lifting up to35 lbs. Frequent: reaching, bending, and pushing/pulling, lifting, carrying up to 14 lbs.
- Working Conditions:
o Potential for spills of cleaning agents, mop buckets, etc. and potential exposure to blood borne pathogens when cleaning
- Required Protective Equipment:
o Mask, booties, gloves, hairnet, gown and goggles
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs cleaning, handling of waste, disposal and material handling using safe work practices and following policies and procedures for each task
- Reviews work completed to verify the correct steps have been completed
