Patient Account Rep II
JOB SUMMARY:
Completes all tasks needed to provide the timely billing and collection of billing for professional services.
PRE-REQUISITES:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
Experience: One year of medical billing experience preferred. Data entry experience required. Office experience required.
Other Skills: Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with good organization. Familiarity with medical terminology and diagnostic coding helpful.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports To: Patient Financial Services or Physician Account Services Supervisor/Manager
Supervises: N/A
Other Contacts: Physicians and their staff, patients, family members, third party payors and hospital personnel.
SCOPE:
Machinery or Equipment Used: Computer and printer, copier, fax machine, telephone, calculator.
Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, some standing, bending and walking, occasional lifting.
Working Conditions: Medical office environment, exposure to infectious diseases, moderate stress, must be able to handle multiple calls and inquiries, subject to many interruptions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Exercises tact and diplomacy and works to maintain a professional, efficient and courteous response to all inquiries.
2. Attends all department meetings and is prepared to report current issues in those meetings. Communicates effectively and efficiently in team meetings.
3. Actively seeks to improve knowledge and experience in healthcare billing and reform.
4. Meets productivity and performance standards as set by the Department Manager.
5. Follows all policies and procedures of the department and takes an active role in process improvement within the department.
6. Works effectively with insurance carriers as assigned in the timely resolution of billing accounts.
7. Is responsible for understanding A/R trends within assigned accounts and proactively identifying issues and resolutions.
8. Reviews assigned A/R balances by category and age, paying particular attention to 90 days and older balances.
