Pharmacy Technician
JOB SUMMARY:
- The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in all phases of the medication delivery system; including ordering, stocking, purchasing, manufacturing, dispensing, delivery, inspection and charge functions.
PRE-REQUISITES:
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Eligible for Vermont State Pharmacy Technician registration and certification within 6 months of hire.
Experience: Previous hospital or medical experience, particularly with medication preferred.

Performs duties under the supervision and control of a licensed Pharmacist
- Supervises:
- None
- Other Contacts:
- Medical staff, nursing staff and other hospital employees, patients, public, vendor representatives
SCOPE:
- Machinery or Equipment Used:
- Pharmaceutical and office equipment including; compounding equipment, infection administration equipment, unit-dose equipment, labeling materials, personal computer, and other office equipment
- Physical Demands:
- Manual dexterity and mobility, ability to stand/walk for protracted period
- Working Conditions:
- May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. May be exposed to toxic chemicals. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Subject to many interruptions and occasional pressure due to multiple calls, inquiries and priorities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Incorporates appropriate skills in all interactions and functions related to pharmacy operations
- Ordering & inventory maintenance
- Prepares prescriptions for pharmacist review according to policies, procedures and equipment use guidelines
Communicates with patients team members and management in an accurate, timely manner
- Completes clinical documentation accurately and timely as required by policy, procedures and regulatory agencies
- Talks with and listens to patients/team members
- Reports pertinent information
- Complete timely clinical documentation/order entry
