Summary
The Director of Financial Aid provides strategic vision and effective leadership to oversee the overall
direction and management in the administration of all financial aid and scholarship programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (Required)
Between 2 - 5 years of related experience (Required)
Valid, unrestricted Driver's License or ability to obtain by start date (Required)
Master’s degree (Preferred)
Prior experience as a Director of Financial Aid in a higher education financial aid department (Preferred)
Essential Responsibilities
- (Critical) Participates in the establishment and maintenance of financial aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current federal, state and institutional guidelines and regulations.
- (Critical) Monitors regulatory changes and compliance issues and analyzes and interprets changes to federal and state legislation regarding financial aid to determine how changes will impact the College.
- (Critical) Participates in the annual set up within the College’s technologybased data system focused on federal, state and institutional awarding criteria.
- (Critical) Monitors usage of all types of funds and requests funding and reports as required by various providers of student aid funds.
- (Critical) Advises students, parents, staff, high school counselors, other college personnel and aid officers, auditors, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Services, and community agencies on the financial aid process as well as represents the College to special interest groups, private interests, community groups and the general public.
- (Critical) Coordinate with integrity the operations of the Financial Aid function, planning for continual improvement and assessment of effectiveness.
- (Critical) Supervises and coordinates the daily operations, efforts, and initiatives of the financial aid office and its staff.
- (Critical) Executes Federal/State/fiscal operations reports (FISAP, IPEDs, Title IV Recertification), funding applications and miscellaneous reports in response to mandated deadline dates.
- (Critical) Works closely with Information Technology staff to implement program improvements and to resolve computer related problems.
- (Critical) Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.
