What are the responsibilities and job description for the Client Service Associate position at Northwestern Mutual?
Our firm helps our high net worth clients define, create and enjoy financially independent lives. With our expanding and growing practice, we are currently seeking a licensed and experienced professional to join our team as a Client Relationship Associate.
The selected candidate will be working alongside in a team capacity with the Senior Lead Advisor. As a member of this two-person client relationship management team, you will be in dialog with our clients directly. This will include in-person and virtual meetings, as well as periodic contacts in between. You will be the direct conduit and will coordinate and collaborate to address client needs with our internal team members, including the Director of Planning, Director of Investments, and Director of Investment Operations. You will be a vital contributing member of our team, leading and coordinating client needs with your colleagues. A professional desire to continuously learn and grow in our field is imperative.
Primary Responsibilities:
The primary roles, responsibilities and necessary traits of the ideal candidate for this position will include:
- A member of the team that serves as a primary point person to address needs and requests of our clients.
- A strong ability to listen and understand requests being made, and the ability to then coordinate with and lead the members of the team to get those items processed and expedited.
- Participating in client meetings (in person and virtual/conference call), and accurately documenting the items discussed.
- Distributing case notes to the members of the team, and accurately noting any follow up tasks to be addressed.
- A forward thinking ability to understand the behind the scenes requirements needed in order to get a project completed.
- Timely, concise and accurate follow up correspondence with our clients following meetings.
- A willingness to pitch in however necessary to get the job done.
- Assisting with compiling proposals and financial plans for our clients utilizing our broker/dealer approved software as needed.
- Strong knowledge around investment and insurance products for review and analysis.
- Preparing investment reports and materials for client meetings as needed
- Preparing and processing investment account paperwork as needed.
- Assist with compiling insurance applications as needed.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Assisting with processing daily investment business utilizing the Pershing platform. Tracking the status of items submitted and verifying completion as intended on a backup and as needed basis.
- The selected individual needs to be both a team player, and a self-starter.
Qualifications:
- Series 7 and 63 securities licenses (or ability to obtain)
- Wisconsin Life/Health insurance license as well as the Wisconsin LTC license (or ability to obtain)
- A degree in finance, accounting, economics, business management, personal finance or a related area of study is preferred or work experience in the financial services industry.
- Financial experience must include demonstrated analytical, problem solving, strategic and tactical thinking and implementation skills.
Other qualifications:
- The following designations are desired: CFP®, CPWA®, WMCP®, RICP®, ChFC®
- Five years in securities industry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients and team members
- Ability to manage multiple diverse projects, assignments and follow through on implementing client’s needs in a timely and quality manner
- Strong attention to detail and follow through with the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications and data entry and information retrieval software
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
- Ability to look beyond the obvious and not stop at the first answers
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to embrace change and work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work both independently and in a team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
