What are the responsibilities and job description for the Startup Technician position at NorthWind Technical Services?
Job Purpose:
The Startup Technician is responsible to commission controls systems and train customes on NorthWind’s product
offerings. The primary functions of this position include onsite start-up, testing, and I/O checkout of control
systems at industrial locations while ensuring the safety, financial, and technical success of all work assignments.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Startup customer projects.
• Interface with the customer, mechanical and electrical installers, etc.
• Confirm equipment installation matches the flow diagram
• Answer questions regarding the electrical drawings and other items within the NorthWind
scope of work.
• Basic Ethernet communication setup of VFDs, remote I/O Racks, Scales, etc.
• I/O checkout – from the field device to the graphics
• Provide support to the programmer during sequence testing and initial operation
• Assist with or provide customer training.
• Travel required – must have a valid driver’s license

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
• Electrical experience, understanding of controls, ability to troubleshoot and use a computer
required
Required Qualifications:
• Degree or certificate in electrical or related field of training

• Two years’ experience preferred
