Northwood’s Chief Administrative Officer Opportunity
Northwood is seeking a highly experienced Chief Administrative Officer (“CAO”) with a demonstrated track record of providing strong, collaborative, and transformative leadership in an urban elementary school setting. In addition, the CAO will have a demonstrated track record of successful change leadership and deep knowledge of current best practices in an elementary education setting.
The CAO must have a history of establishing strong stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally. The goal is to cultivate relationships that result in enhanced community partnerships that support the overall education and development of Northwood’s students in the short and long-term.
Overview of Roles and Responsibilities
The CAO will be responsible for overseeing the overall academic performance and operations as well as leading school-wide initiatives to improve student achievement.
The CAO will work with an administrative team comprised of the Assistant Principals, Director of Operations, Deans, and Social Worker Supervisor. The CAO will report to the CEO and will be responsible for many facets of the school including:
Ø Building systems of accountability within all departments (Academics, SPED, Culture, Operations, Social Work, etc.)
Ø Working with school leadership to closely monitor school improvement through a cycle of continuous improvement and sound management practices
Ø Providing frequent, actionable feedback to school leadership to improve their leadership practice and achieve better results
Ø Managing and supporting implementation of the strategic plan initiatives related to the academic and operational outcomes of the school
Ø Managing and evaluating school leadership including assessing their effectiveness using established metrics
Ø Seeking and implementing innovative and adaptive solutions to educational and organizational challenges to close achievement gaps
Ø Continually informing the CEO and the School Board when appropriate about all current issues and proposed resolutions
Ø Creating school calendar, school wide special events, and year-long Professional Development calendar
Ø Performing related duties as required or assigned
Professional Qualifications
Ø 5 years of school leadership experience
Ø 3 years of central office administrative leadership experience (inclusive of Principal experience)
Ø Experience working for an educational organization or program focused on the “whole child.”
Ø Strategic thinker with the ability to oversee daily operations, holding self and others accountable to desired outcomes.
Ø Experience working in a multi-faceted organization.
Ø Exceptional communication skills across diverse audiences.
Ø Teaching experience (especially in elementary grades) preferred.
Ø Experience working in an urban school (charter school preferred).
Education
Ø Master’s Degree required.
Ø Principal certification (PK-12) required.
