Northwood Club is a premier country club established in 1946 and located in Dallas, Texas, best known for hosting the 1952 U.S. Open. We just re-opened our newly renovated PGA Championship Golf Course which was named #1 Best Golf Course Renovation in Avid Golfer Magazine. The club also has a Distinguished Clubs of the World Emerald Designation for outstanding member service. Our staff consists of a wide range of professionals who are well recognized in areas of Tennis, Golf and Culinary.

Wellness at Northwood is a team-based training group with a passion for helping our trainers achieve high levels of expertise in the field of exercise and nutrition. General Purpose:
Responsibilities include providing personalized private and semi-private training to members specific to their needs and capabilities. Ensuring cleanliness, assist with day to day operations of the fitness center, facility and equipment; and ensuring that the physical environment is pleasing to the members.

Essential Duties: Comprehensive knowledge of fitness and exercise principles

  • Friendly, outgoing personality
  • Schedule appointments for personal training, massage and babysitting.
  • Check members in, process charges to members' accounts.
  • Assist Director of Fitness in office administration
  • Able to teach in absence of another trainer, conduct group classes if needed.
  • Creativity, assertiveness, ability to inspire others
  • Competence in fitness program design and implementation
  • Knowledge of fitness equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of major health risk factors and reduction strategies
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills

Education/Experience:
NSCA or NASM certification with up to three years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be experienced in conducting fitness assessments and have
knowledge and be able to modify exercise and training for high-risk members.

Language Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively, English is required to give instruction, print and speak.

Physical Demands:
Must be in good physical condition to teach classes and use equipment. Frequently stands and walks; uses hands to finger, feel or handle; reach with hands and arms. Occasionally stoops, kneels, crawls, crouches, sits, talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Vision Requirements:
Regularly uses close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus.

Environment/Noise:
Frequently works in air conditioned and heated conditions (non-weather). Regularly works inside. Noise level is moderate, but
frequent noise from fitness equipment and machinery.

Certificates/Licenses:
Certification as a Health and Fitness Specialist/Coach/Trainer, CPR and First Aid.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

  • Ability to read and speak English are required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the employee may be required to communicate with English speaking members or co-workers, the manuals for equipment the employee may use are in English).
  • Northwood Club is looking for someone who is highly energetic and passion about getting clients results. Our Fitness Professionals inspire and influence our members to lead a healthy lifestyle through the application of evidence-based fitness and nutrition. This individual will provide accountability, education, and motivation to our members while employing the fundamental principles of exercise programming and selection. While the management team will provide ample support, this individual must be motivated and capable of developing and managing their book of business. Strong expertise in the field of exercise science is preferred. A strong commitment to customer service and team-work are required.
