EMPLOYMENT STATUS

Exempt Fulltime - 40 hours a week

Typical hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Applicant must be flexible and able to work other hours as needed, such as Days, Weekends, Holidays, and On-Call.

SALARY

The starting salary is $62,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of NDAC. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED oversees daily operations, staff, fundraising, financial management, and compliance with federal, state, and agency policies. This position requires strong leadership, nonprofit management experience, and a deep commitment to supporting survivors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:LEADERSHIP & OPERATIONS

  • Provide visionary leadership, ensuring NDAC fulfills its mission, upholds values, implements services in accordance with grant guidelines, policies, and procedures, and works toward strategic goals.
  • You will oversee and manage all human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy enforcement, benefits administration, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Ensure trauma-informed, survivor-centered services are delivered across all programs.
  • Maintain the building’s cleanliness, functionality, and safety by overseeing maintenance, proactive updates, inventory management of supplies, and coordination with vendors for repairs and improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and grant requirements.

Board Relations

  • Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board, providing regular updates on financial status, program impact, and strategic needs.
  • Assist in recruiting and orienting board members and ensuring effective governance.
  • Work closely with board committees on policy development and fundraising initiatives.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
  • Manage all grant writing, reporting, and compliance for all funding sources.
  • Implement sound financial procedures, including dual control measures and adherence to GAAP.
  • Authorize expenditures and oversee audits in collaboration with the Account Specialist.

Fundraising & Community Engagement

  • Lead grant-seeking efforts, write grants, and identify new funding opportunities from public and private sources.
  • Foster relationships with donors, foundations, government agencies, and community partners.
  • Represent NDAC at public events, coalition meetings, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Oversee marketing, social media, public relations, and community education efforts to increase awareness and engagement.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, business, social services, or a related field. At least 5 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit or human services setting.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, grants, and accounting procedures in a multi-funding-source organization.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, QuickBooks, and online grant management platforms.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Commitment to Equity: Experience working with marginalized communities and a dedication to trauma-informed, non-oppressive advocacy.
  • Flexibility & Availability: Willingness to travel, attend trainings, and be available outside normal business hours when necessary.

  • Compensation & Benefits: Competitive salary, SEP IRA retirement plan, paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
  • Special Requirements: A valid Wisconsin driver’s license, ability to sit or stand for extended periods, frequent typing and use of a computer, including reading on electronic screens, occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 20 lbs, ability to move within the office, including bending, reaching, and occasional kneeling, clear verbal and written communication skills for phone, email, and in-person interactions, and willingness to travel for training and advocacy.
