Norton Correctional Facility is a prison comprised of minimum, low, and medium incarcerated residents. Norton Correctional Facility is split into two different physical locations, Norton, KS housing Central Unit and Stockton, KS housing East Unit. Position Summary & Responsibilities

The Activities Specialist is responsible for organizing and facilitating activities, that align with policy and procedure standards of the Kansas Department of Corrections. Specifically, the Activities Specialist is responsible for managing hobby craft activities, the inmate library, and any recreational activities as assigned.

Additionally, the Activities Specialist is responsible for setting and monitoring goals for residents. The Activities Specialist should provide opportunities for inmates to change behavior patterns through specific hands on, creative and expressive modalities, including but not limited to, arts and crafts, recreation, or leisure time activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Four years of experience in recreation, athletics, music, or art. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must have a Valid High School Diploma or Equivalent. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position. Must take and pass drug screen, background check, and Tuberculosis (TB) test.
