Responsibilities
Develop a systematic approach and process for obtaining external grant funding. Responsible for organizing teams of experts; managing grant preparation; research, writing, and editing grant proposals; acquiring pre-submission proposal review; and submitting external grant proposals to private and corporate foundations and to state and federal agencies. Must be capable of errorless and smooth writing style demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications -- articles, essays, books -- or by funded grant proposals. Understanding of the peer-review process and how funding sources score grant proposals. Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required to inspire the organization to sponsor grant applications. Follow up and compliance on all reports post grant funding award. This position will assist with events as needed, which requires flexible hours, including evening and weekends and own transportation.
Key Accountabilties:
- Manage the grants development and writing department within the Children's Hospital and Norton Healthcare Foundations. This consists of obtaining external grant funding; organizing teams of experts; managing grant preparation; researching, writing, and editing grant proposals; acquiring pre-submission proposal reviews; submitting external grant proposals to private and corporate foundations and to state and federal agencies; and tracking all external grants while complying with timely completion and submission of all grant accountabilities and requirements including progress reports.
- In conjunction with leadership, develop grant strategies. Develop and maintain teams of internal experts and coordinates meetings and assign individual responsibilities to prepare state and federal grant proposals. Network locally, regionally, and nationally to remain current on sources in the field of grants. Maintain communication with foundation, state, and federal program officers to ensure knowledge of specific grant guidelines. Remain current on all aspects of grant writing and development through attendance at conferences, training assistance workshops, professional reading and networking.
- Ensure compliance post grant award on system documentation and grant reports. Provide oversight to grants coordinator to ensure foundation integration.
- Works collaboratively with outside consultants, as well as other local agencies and organizations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Three years healthcare, human services or large organization grant writing
- Bachelor Degree
