Responsibilities
Admits patients and processes specimens and orders in appropriate LIS system. Ensures proper patient identification and labeling of all specimens or rejects specimens according to policy. Operates the pneumatic tube system, prioritizes specimens into routine and stat, centrifuges and aliquots specimens according to tests ordered, accurately label all tubes, accurately deliver specimens to laboratory areas, and properly store all specimens. Communicate test results to physicians, fax results upon request. Abide by all regulatory and infection control guidelines. Perform phlebotomy, morgue duties, and waived or moderately complex testing as needed and approved by Medical Director.
Qualifications
- One year phlebotomy and specimen processing
- High School Diploma or GED
- Phlebotomy Technician
