Responsibilities

The Magnet Program Director will play a critical role in preparing the hospital for Magnet certification and maintaining ongoing support for Magnet-related initiatives. This position will lead and manage activities that align with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® standards, fostering an environment of nursing excellence. The Magnet Program Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the hospital is compliant with all Magnet standards and supports the development of a professional practice culture.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position will design and implement programs that support Magnet principles of nursing excellence, professional development, and quality care. The director will identify opportunities for improvement by analyzing performance metrics, gathering feedback from nursing staff, and staying abreast of emerging trends in nursing practice. Initiate action plans to address gaps in performance, ensuring continuous improvement across the hospital system.
  • This position will serve as an advocate for nursing staff, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions recognized. This position will promote a culture of shared governance by encouraging participation in Magnet-related initiatives and supporting nurses in leadership roles within the organization. The director will drive initiatives that enhance nurse engagement, job satisfaction, and retention, thereby improving both patient and organizational outcomes.
  • This position will lead the development of data-driven strategies to track and measure progress towards Magnet goals. The director will analyze benchmarking data, quality indicators, and nursing outcomes to inform strategic decisions and maintain alignment with industry standards. The director will ensure that data is accurately collected, reported, and used to drive improvements in patient care and nursing practice.
  • This position will provide visionary leadership for the Magnet program, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic goals. This position will develop and implement long-term plans to sustain Magnet designation, while continuously enhancing nursing excellence. This position will collaborate with senior leadership to set strategic priorities, identify opportunities for growth, and integrate best practices across the organization. The director will act as the key driver of innovation, fostering a culture of excellence, quality, and patient-centered care.
  • This position will lead and oversee all aspects of the Magnet application and re-designation process, including the collection, preparation, and submission of necessary documentation. This position will ensure that all efforts meet the standards established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The director will coordinate across multiple departments, fostering collaboration to achieve organizational readiness and successful outcomes in site evaluations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Registered Nurse (RN)

Desired:

  • 7 to 10 years of nursing experience, with leadership experience
  • Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
