Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant Trainee learns how to assist and direct patient care. This is a full-time, paid training program that is 40 hours per week for eight weeks. The training classes will be held at 1001 Breckenridge Ln, Louisville, KY 40207
Upon successful completion of the Medical Assistant Trainee program, you will transition into a full-time Medical Assistant role in one of our Norton Medical Group practices.
The Program Will Provide Education On Topics Including
Clinical Functions
Administrative Functions:

One year in a healthcare setting desired, but not required.

- How to serve as the clinical liaison
- How to promote communication among all care providers, patients and office staff
- How to attend to patients utilizing the age appropriate principles of growth and development according to Norton Medical Group principles, policies and protocols
Clinical Functions
Administrative Functions:
- Taking patients to rooms·Greeting patients·Obtaining vital signs·Scheduling appointments·Assisting with medical procedures·Answering phones·Performing phlebotomy·Clerical & computer work·Obtaining lab specimens·Prior authorizations·Adhering to safety and infection guidelines
- Billing and coding·Maintaining electronic medical records (EMR)
- Faxing·Calculating & administering medications & vaccinations·Disability & Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork
