Responsibilities
The pharmacy buyer is responsible for procurement, storage and monitoring of all pharmaceutical-related inventory within assigned facility(s). The pharmacy buyer also manages invoices and purchase orders for related items, supply invoices and etc. This necessitates that the pharmacy buyer works closely with pharmacy management. The buyer is responsible for maintaining records and files to document purchases, purchase orders and invoices to comply with internal accounting practices, regulatory requirements and to facilitate data retrieval for cost control initiatives. The pharmacy buyer proactively monitors contract compliance and assists the pharmacy management in maximizing cost efficiency of the pharmacy supply chain. The buyer should be proficient in generating reports from applicable software programs and monitoring those reports to evaluate trends and issues with the purchasing of pharmacy inventory. Basic understanding of contracting and vendor policies and procedures is required. The pharmacy buyer is proficient in 340B purchasing, inventory management and collaborates with pharmacy management to maximize savings through this program. This position requires a high level of interaction with internal and external customers. Work involves non-standardized tasks requiring substantial judgment
Qualifications
Required:
- One year in a pharmacy
- Pharmacy Technician (KY)
Desired:
- One year purchasing in a healthcare setting
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (National)
