The Transportation Safeguard is responsible for ensuring the safe and secure transportation of crew members, providing security and escort services, and managing transportation logistics as required. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including driving, scheduling, security coordination, and administrative support.
Specific Essential Job Duties:
- Provide on call safeguarding and transportation services for personnel and crews in assigned port office locations.
- Plan driving routes in advance for efficiency and monitor traffic and weather conditions to ensure expedient travel.
- Abide by all federal, state, and local laws, including all transportation rules, guidelines, and safety regulations; ensure passengers also follow applicable safety regulations.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation for vessel arrivals and departures is prepared in a timely manner, including regular trips to U.S. Immigration Control and U.S. Customs and Border Protection offices.
- Ensure all service-related documentation is submitted accurately and promptly to the appropriate parties upon job completion.
- Provide detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management.
- Maintain organized files and ensure that documentation is prepared accurately and on time.
- Make required trips to terminals, airports, hotels, U.S. Immigration Control and U.S. Customs and Border Protection offices to ensure all necessary documentation is ready for arrivals and departures.
- Communicate effectively with principals, customers, vessel masters, port authority, terminals, and government agencies to ensure smooth operations.
- Abide by company HSEQ Policies & Procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
- Valid Class D security license required.
- Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) is highly preferred and must be obtained upon acceptance of the position or within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to pass a Federal and State background screening.
- A minimum of one to two (1-2) years as a transportation provider preferred.
- Previous security and safeguarding experience required.
- Previous experience in the maritime agency industry helpful but not required.
- Ability to travel between sites as needed.
- Verifiable excellent customer service skills.
- Strong communication skills, with groups and in individual interactions to solve problems.
- Excellent knowledge of security protocols.
- Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have and maintain valid automobile insurance that complies with state regulations.
- Must be able to work daily on call as needed, including some weekends, nights, holidays, etc.

This position will spend a significant amount of time driving. This includes being able to sit comfortably for extended periods of time both during a trip and on standby awaiting passengers. Additionally, there will be some bending/stooping, lifting, walking, standing, and carrying of transport items such as luggage, clothing, boxes, and personal effects of the passengers up to 50 pounds.
On-hire times can vary greatly and are dependent on a number of external factors including the arrival and departure of vessels, airplanes, and ferries, therefore the employee must be able to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate passenger needs and demand. This can include early morning and late evening requirements.
The position involves frequent walking, standing, and climbing (e.g., gangways) up to six feet or more in height. There may also be occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and other physical tasks are required to support the transportation and security needs of passengers and crew members. The role will also require several trips to the marine vessel during its time in port to handle any transportation or security-related issues.
Candidates must be able to work a flexible full-time schedule, which includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational needs.
